“You don’t have a positive concept of the future. You no longer develop utopias. “ writes Samuel Koch in his book «The world you no longer understand». And then immediately followed up with his «Utopia des Homo Tempo». That got me thinking. What would my utopia of a good world look like? Here is my shot at the taks. Similarities to the original are not accidental.

The society of the future is positive, lively, fair and connected.

As free and self-aware humans, we strive for a good life by loving and accepting ourselves. We use our potential so we can contribute to a better world, to the Big Picture.

In the same way, we love and accept our fellow human beings. We recognize their dignity and rights and know that they are endowed with reason and conscience. We take deliberate action against discrimination based on gender, age, origin, skin color, views, religion, sexual orientation or other factors.

We understand that everything in our universe is interconnected. All people, animals and plants, all elements, are understood as a large coherent system — in which the universal connectedness or divinity is expressed.

A pandemic at the beginning of the 21st century triggered a broad rethink towards greater connectedness. In this way we have overcome many problems of the past: We live in peace and no longer wage wars because we have learned to take responsibility for our conflicts and to solve them non-violently.

We have been able to eradicate poverty globally by starting to distribute the available resources of food, energy and capital more fairly. The wealthy pay reasonable taxes and volunteer for the welfare of many other people. A universal basic income gives people a secure livelihood and enables them to discover their individual talents. The world’s population has settled at a sustainable level.

Our world has no borders or walls. Most people remain rooted in their homeland. Some are drawn to other countries and they get the opportunity to become part of society there too. If people are forced to flee due to emergencies or disasters, they are treated humanely and supported on their way.

We have put the common good in the focus of our business: we create value while treating all people involved and the environment fairly along the entire value chain and allowing employees to share in the profits. There are no excessive profits or salaries.

Technological progress has made a lot possible for us and we see it positively. We have an ethics for Artificial Intelligence. At the same time, we have overcome the climate crisis through rapid, consistent and comprehensive measures, so that we have been acting globally in a climate-positive and sustainable manner since 2035.

Our financial system is democratized. It is based on blockchain-based currencies and digital assets that are managed in a decentralized, transparent and tamper-proof manner. In this way we eliminate unnecessary intermediaries and reduce the bloated financial sector.

Through committed initiatives by civil society, we have renewed our political system and made it so accessible and relevant that many get involved and are heard. In this way we have pushed back the excessive influence of people and organizations with a lot of capital and created lively, broad-based, constructive democracies.

We know that education and lifelong learning are key to everything. People have free access to education which, in addition to content and methods, also includes the formation of meaning and heart. Everyone gets to know other countries and cultures. We are all students and teachers. This is the only way we can maintain the connectedness — every day anew.
